MY TAKE ON THE PARK

It seems every year there is a cry for a new ballpark in Hagerstown. I believe the hill that used to be very present in left field has not been flattened; I hope nothing else has changed at this park.

Yes, it is an old park without the creature comforts of say, cup holders. I’ve always enjoyed the games attended at this park. Skepticism needs to be thought of when a spot near the entrance to the park is available. Problem is, those parking spots are within striking distance of home plate. A good spot could result in a broken windshield so I would suggest taking the walk in the lot.

Once through the entrance, there isn’t much to see except for the game. But that is why we attend the games, right? Down the left field line they have tried a few things; my last visit was 2009 so there was only tent with a bar at the time.

If you are looking for extras, Hagerstown isn’t much. If you are looking for a real old time Minor League experience, then I recommend Hagerstown Municipal Stadium. One extra you will find, and I’ve had the seat on a number of occasions, is sit next to the visitors dug out on the third base side. That seat is a real glimpse into the world of Minor League ball.
